Nature of the service
csaladnev.hu is an aggregator-style historical research and information-search service. The service may organise, index, normalise, arrange in searchable form, and present on a single search interface information found in various historical, archival, bibliographic, digitised, publicly accessible, or lawfully processed sources.
The primary purpose of csaladnev.hu is not to create independent authentic historical statements of fact, official registers, or original instruments, but to help historical information be searched, researched, and compared.
csaladnev.hu is not an official register, not a civil registry, not an archive, not an authentic database, and it does not issue official or archival certificates.
Sources and aggregation
The data behind individual results may come from an original historical source, a digitised or reproduced version of it, bibliographic processing, a database, a list, an index, or a structured transcription of these. The service may normalise, standardise, and index the data for search and technical purposes. This technical processing does not make the displayed data authentic, and a result is not a certified copy of the original source.
Accuracy and completeness of historical data
The provider aims for the displayed information to reflect the content of the processed sources as accurately as possible. Because of the condition of historical documents, contemporary spelling, printing errors, differing name forms, digitisation, optical character recognition, manual or machine transcription, normalisation, and structuring, errors, omissions, discrepancies, duplicates, and inaccurate results may occur.
The provider does not guarantee the historical completeness of the database, and does not guarantee that every document, entry, or surname-change record that once arose or survived in connection with a person or a name can be found in the service.
Lack of probative force of the results
A search result does not, by itself, prove a person’s identity, kinship, descent, or membership of a particular family. A coincidence of an identical or similar surname, given name, place of residence, occupation, date, or other data is not, by itself, genealogical evidence.
The results of the service are not a legal, official, archival, genealogical, citizenship, succession, name-use, religious-law, or other expert opinion.
Genealogical conclusions
A search result does not, by itself, prove a person’s identity, kinship, descent, or membership of a particular family. A coincidence of an identical or similar surname, given name, place of residence, occupation, date, or other data is not, by itself, genealogical evidence.
The service does not compile a family tree and does not replace archival or genealogical source criticism. Identity of a name, or a coincidence of similar data, does not by itself prove descent.
Conclusions about origin and religion
csaladnev.hu does not determine or certify racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical belief, nationality, or genetic origin. Such a conclusion is not established by a name, a surname change, a geographical place, or a historical record alone.
The user’s own source checking
In an official, court, citizenship, naturalisation, succession, civil-registration, genealogical, or other significant matter, the user must check the data independently from the original source, the competent archive, authority, or another appropriate authentic source.
Nature of paid access
The consideration for paid access is payable for use of the search and access service of csaladnev.hu. The fee is not payable for an official certificate, for genealogical proof, or for the guaranteed finding of a predetermined historical conclusion.
The planned paid products are one-time consideration: a full result list for one name, 24-hour research access, and 30-day research access. They are not recurring subscriptions. Payment is not yet available in this version.
Technical availability
Because of the nature of the service, occasional technical faults, maintenance, and network or external-provider outages may occur.
External services
The service may also rely on external sources and networks independent of the provider, in particular publicly available surname-change lists and digitised historical publications. Their availability, content, and operating rules are not under the provider’s exclusive control. An outage, change, or restriction of an external source may affect the range of results and the technical availability of the service.
Lawful limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the provider is not liable for a consequence that arises solely because the user treated a historical search result, without independent source checking, as authentic, complete, or officially probative data.
No provision of this notice excludes or limits any liability of the provider that the law does not permit to be excluded or limited, and it does not limit the rights that mandatory law confers on a consumer.
Requests to correct data
If the user notices an error in a record, or believes that the display of data affects a right or legitimate interest of theirs, they may request a review of the record at the provider’s contact address.
Copyright and database use
The provider does not claim an exclusive right in historical facts, historical events, or the content of original archival, civil-registration, and official documents. The search interface, the edited presentation, the technical database structure, and the software may be protected under applicable law.
Ordinary use of the service’s search interface and technical infrastructure for individual research is permitted. Mass extraction, reuse, or copying of the service or a substantial part of it by automated means, or circumvention of access restrictions, is prohibited, unless the provider has given prior written permission or mandatory law allows it.
Effect
This notice applies from its publication. The detailed terms of the contractual relationship are set out in the Terms and Conditions. In the event of a difference, mandatory law and the Terms and Conditions govern contractual questions; this notice records the nature of the service and the limits on the use of historical data.
